Letter to President Obama for World AIDS Day 2011

Leading HIV organizations in the U.S. sent a letter to President Obama today about the speech he will deliver on World AIDS Day, December 1st. The 2011 World AIDS Day theme is "Getting to Zero" -- zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, and zero HIV-related deaths. The letter describes three specific commitments the President should make to achieve these priorities, namely: (1) continued implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) to increase prevention and treatment of HIV in the U.S.; (2) treatment delivery to six million people globally by 2013; and (3) concrete commitments and recommendations to eliminate government policies that target people with HIV for discrimination and unreasonable criminal prosecution.
