Housing as Healthcare: Unlocking doors to stable housing for PLAHIV

Housing is healthcare. It provides a measure of stability that allows people living and aging with HIV (PLAHIV) the ability to tend to their medical concerns, build community, and address their multifaceted needs. However, more than 70% of people living with HIV, depending on where they live, report periods of housing instability, and the nation as a whole is facing an affordable housing crisis.
Presented by the CHLP Aging Initiative, this webinar will explore some of the underlying causes of housing instability among PLAHIV, with a focus on the impact of collateral consequences resulting from criminal convictions. Housing experts will then present on current options for subsidized housing for PLAHIV. Novel solutions to preserving housing access for PLAHIV, including a description of Philadelphia’s Right to Counsel program, will also be discussed, giving participants an overview of steps they can take to improve access to stable housing for PLAHIV.
