American Society on Aging: On Aging 2025

CHLP Executive Director S. Mandisa Moore-O'Neal and Staff Attorney Kae Greenberg will be attending and presenting at On Aging in Orlando in April.
Opening General Session Keynote
Tuesday, April 22, 8:00 - 9:30a
On a relatively new advocacy area, this keynote will note the analysis behind and uplift the experiences of those living in the space where HIV, criminalization, and aging intersect. Providing a historical and contemporary context for this often invisibilized community, the keynote will render visible those who are particularly marginalized, and share concrete ways for what we all can do to increase the efficacy of our advocacy.
Presenter: S. Mandisa Moore-O’Neal, Executive Director, CHLP
People Living & Aging With HIV: Collateral Consequences of Criminalization
Wednesday, April 23, 9:30 - 10:30a
The session will discuss the normally overlooked category of People Living and Aging with HIV (PLAHIV) who have a criminal record because of the impact that incarceration and criminal records have on one's ability to access government services. It is statistically likely that a large percentage of PLHIV are aging with a criminal record because of the overlap between the communities targeted for hyper-policing and those particularly vulnerable to acquiring HIV. Although this panel will focus on PLAHIV, the information shared will be relevant and applicable to anyone aging with a criminal record, providing important information as to what limitations the collateral consequences of criminal records impose.
Panelists:
- Davina Conner, CHLP Aging Consultant
- Kerry Thomas, Sero Project
