USHAFC Engaging Faith Communities to End HIV Criminalization

On Thursday, February 20, CHLP Senior PJP Attorney Jada Hicks will appear on this panel, Engaging Faith Communities to End HIV Criminalization: From Data to Policy for HIV is not a Crime Awareness Day. Hosted by the U.S. HIV/AIDS Faith Coalition and the Inter-CFAR Faith and Spirituality Research Collaborative, this is a follow-up conversation to their November 2024 webinar Faith to End HIV Criminalization. Join this dynamic virtual panel discussion about how HIV criminalization does not align with scientific and social research data, and the ways faith communities can get involved to help decriminalize HIV and humanize people most vulnerable to identity-based discrimination.
February 28 is HIV is Not a Crime Awareness Day, which was first observed in 2022 by the Sero Project in collaboration with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. This awareness day is an opportunity to amplify the voices of those who have been criminalized based on their HIV status.
The US HIV & AIDS Faith Coalition is composed of people of faith, faith leaders, people living with HIV, and people working in the HIV and AIDS response working together to develop and implement strategies to strengthen the faith response toward ending the HIV epidemic.
