Susan Rodriguez, CHLP advisory board member and our founding director of SMART was honored at Iris House's Women as the Face of AIDS Summit on May 2nd by Ingrid Floyd, the Executive Director of Iris House. The Summit, entitled "The Race to the End," recognized Susan for her exceptional commitment to improving the lives of women living with HIV/AIDS.

Susan co-founded SMART University with a group of HIV+ women in East Harlem to provide treatment, health and prevention education and support to women affected by HIV/AIDS. She is the recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Community Health Leader Award, the Union Square Award for Grassroots Activism and was named “Woman of the Year” by POZ magazine 2004. She was also the first Community Spokesperson for the MAC AIDS Fund back in 2004 and has appeared in magazine articles in Glamour, Ebony, and Vanity Fair.
