CHLP, NCLR and HRC Release Video on Ending Bad HIV Laws

In more than 30 states, people living with HIV can be tried and imprisoned simply because a partner accuses them of hiding their HIV status.

While originally thought to promote disclosure of one's HIV status, there's no proof these laws work. And they perpetuate stigma. The Center for HIV Law and Policy, in partnership with Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), launched a public education and outreach campaign to raise awareness about the harms of HIV criminalization and the disproportionate impact these laws have on the LGBT community, especially LGBT communities of color. The social and digital media campaign--#EndBadHIVLaws--features this educational video that debunks common myths about HIV and explains how HIV criminalization laws might actually be fueling the spread of HIV.
