HIV Criminalization in Missouri (2013)
September 4, 2013
HIV criminalization laws continue to be enforced in states across the country.
In southeast Missouri, police arrested a man living with HIV on August 26, 2013. Just a week earlier, on August 20, 2013, a man living with HIV in Fort Myers, Florida, was targeted for prosecution. As reported in connection with both of these recent incidents: The Center for HIV Law and Policy monitors HIV criminalization across the country (see our snapshot of prosecutions from 2008 to the present).
People at risk of prosecution should review CHLP's HIV criminalization palm card. Legal advocates representing people living with HIV in a criminal exposure case should review CHLP's guidance.
