The American Bar Association's biannual HIV/AIDS Law & Practice Conference is a pre-eminent, multidisciplinary, continuing legal education (CLE) conference addressing HIV/AIDS-related legal and policy issues. The conference also welcomes healthcare providers, case workers, and social service professionals to examine how HIV-related law and policy affects their work and, in turn, to enlighten lawyers about needs and experiences in working with HIV-positive patients/clients. Topics to be addressed at the 2014 conference include, among others:
· HIV and the Affordable Care Act: Implications for Ryan White and Ensuring Access to Quality Care
· Status of HIV Criminalization / Sex Workers / Stigma
· Administrative Proceedings: Social Security and Immigration
· Maintaining Consent and Confidentiality in the Modern Era
· HIV Litigation — Updates and Trends
· HIV in the South: “Southern Strategies”
· HIV, Family Law, and Reproductive Health
· Creating Real Change in the HIV Care Continuum / Treatment Cascade
Screening and discussion: “deepsouth”: A documentary about the rural American South, and the people who inhabit its most quiet corners. Beneath layers of history, poverty and now soaring HIV infections, four Americans redefine traditional Southern values to create their own solutions to survive. (Click here for trailer)
