Support H.R. 1843: REPEAL HIV Discrimination Act
January 28, 2014
The Repeal Existing Policies that Encourage and Allow Legal (REPEAL) HIV Discrimination Act (H.R. 1843), was introduced on May 7, 2013, by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.). According to Matthew Ebert's article in the Huffington Post, this bi-partisan bill addresses the serious problem of discrimination in the use of criminal laws against people living with HIV, and provides incentives for states to explore repeal or reform of HIV-specific criminal laws. As Ebert explains, The Center for HIV Law and Policy has prepared resources in connection with the REPEAL Act, including a toolkit and fact sheet.
