This 30-page publication summarizes local, state and federal housing and civil rights laws that ensure the rights of people with disabilities in New York State to have equal access to housing, including reasonable accommodations (such as ramps) necessary to make access a practical reality. Relevant laws discussed include the Fair Housing Act (FHA), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the New York State Human Rights Law (NYSHRL) and the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL).
