HIV Testing Expansion Initiative: The First Year, Slide Presentation, New York Health & Hospitals Corporation (2006)
This slide presentation, prepared by the New York Health and Hospital Corporation, (a public benefit corporation created in 1969 that is the largest municipal hospital system in the country) covers the NYHHC's successful expanded HIV testing initiative, which produced a testing increase of more than 50% over testing rates in the previous year. The slides set out the basic plan and components of the initiative, the numbers of tested, those sites that had the highest testing rates, and those factors most likely to increase the success of an initiative in a particular facility. The presentation makes it clear that comprehensive legal protections of patients' rights to information and choice prior to, and following, HIV testing are in no way a barrier to dramatically increases HIV testing rates.
